Sunshine, sunsets, good people, pool, hot tub, billiards draw us back to SKP Kofa RV Park in Yuma

Sunset_palmTree_JulianneGCraneWhenever we travel south through California, heading to (or from) Texas and further points east, we always stop at the Kofa Ko-op RV Retreat, in Yuma, Ariz. We’ve lost count of the number of times we’ve pulled into this Escapees RV Club Members Only RV park. The management staff is superior.

+Kofa_pool_JulianneGCraneAll visitors have full access to the clubhouse, pool, hot spa, laundry, shower and other facilities including two pretty decent pool tables. And, while you are in residence, you can get your mail forwarded here.

“KOFA Ko-op is a community of members, many of whom reside in the park yearound.  For this reason, almost half of the lots have ‘Park Models’ in various styles, old and new, that add a refreshing variety to the park atmosphere.” Visitors are encouraged to participate in park activities including ice cream socials at 6 p.m. on Sunday and water exercise at 8:25 a.m. weekdays.

+Kofa_JimmySmith_billiards_JulianneGCraneFriendly pool competition takes place every day at 1. p.m. and 7 p.m., except for Thursday p.m. (Bingo night). There is a weekly pool tournament on Wednesday open to all comers (women and men), which Jimmy happened to win the week we were there.

Tables seem to be open for unscheduled ‘drop in’ games unless there is a public meeting or event in the community room.

According to the park manager,  rental sites are at a premium mid-January to mid-March. “Even our dry camping area can get full,” she said.   All rental lots that are availability, are on a ‘first come – first served’ basis only.

  • Great write-up on Kofa! We’ve been coming for many years and finally got a long-term lease site here. Something people should know is this has been a first-come, first-served RV park, without reservations. We love it here — got the site so we would have a spot waiting for us when we wanted to be here, rather than roll the dice. The one thing I’d add to your description is the free air show that goes on nearly every day. Maybe not a true “air show,” but the jets from the nearby MCAS base frequently soar overhead (I’m hearing one now)!

    • Ellen … thanks for your comments. We love Kofa. People are extra friendly. Hope to see you when we return in February … but as you say, it is first-come, first-serve. Here’s hoping we’ll be lucky again.
