Sadlers Creek, SC, campsite. Julianne CraneSouth Carolina’s Sadlers Creek State Recreation Area sits within shouting distance of Georgia on Hartwell Lake about a dozen miles off of I-85 in the northwestern part of the state near Anderson.

Only one of the three campgrounds is currently open, but on the night we were there were only six rigs nestled in the forest of mixed hardwoods and Southern Pine.

Cost, depending on a number of qualifiers, runs around $20-$22. Water and electricity comes with most RV sites. There also is a designated tent area with central water. Showers are hot.

There are also Corps of Engineers campgrounds around Lake Hartwell.
