We just purchased a Honda EU2000i Super Quiet generator … a major step for us.
As truck campers who love to boondock (dry camp) on remote public lands, we realized last winter on our three-month, 8,000-mile trip that we were limited by two things: our single 12-volt deep cycle battery and the small holding tanks (more about those on another posting).
With only one battery, the longest we were comfortable staying “without hookups” was between 4-5 days. In addition, if we ever needed to start any power tools, computer or air conditioner, we were flat out of luck.
After talking with a number of RVers (including several very knowledgeable snowbirds from Canada) and doing extensive research online, we settled on the Honda EU2000iA. We were sold on how quiet and light-weight it is.
According to its Website it is:
- Super quiet
- Easy to carry – less than 47 lbs.
- Fuel efficient – up to 9.6 hrs on 1 gal of gas
- Inverter – stable power for computers and more
- 3 year residential and commercial warranty
Prices range between around $900 and $1,200. Be sure to comparison shop. Extras include a waterproof cover and cables.
We are committed to going as ‘green’ as possible and are looking forward to adding solar panels to our little 8.6-foot Lance Lite.

Yes, thank goodness … no more freezing nights in freak Southwest snowstorms.
Look forward to seeing you and Dar soon.
