Idaho has dozens of great hot springs. One of the most funky and delightful is the historic Burgdorf Hot Springs about 30 miles north McCall, Idaho.
For more details on the hot springs click on an item I wrote for RV Short Stops.
There are numerous opportunities for dispersed camping in the Payette National Forest— two campgrounds close to the hot springs–Jeanette and Burgdorf.
We stayed at Burgdorf Campground, and bicycled to the hot springs, less than a mile away. (The Payette NF website indicated this campground was close, but in fact it re-opened in mid-June.) It fills quickly–there are only three (3) boondock sites available. Water and vault toilet only–no other amenities. When we camped there was plenty of free firewood from recently cut dead trees. $10/night (or $5 w/senior pass).
