JimmySmith-Readytogo_JulianneGCraneFor the long weekend, we headed out from our home base in southern Oregon, to pavement camp and visit  our friend Tom Bombadil in Corvallis, Ore.

Friday morning plans have us heading northwest to the Oregon Coast and the Nehalem Bay State Park. One of our favorite destination parks, Nehalem Bay is nestled between the ocean and the bay. This extremely popular family campground is situated on a 4-mile long sand spit on the scenic northern Oregon coast.

Last time we where is was a little less than two years ago and we very much enjoyed the beach walks, bicycling and s’mores. This year for Jimmy’s birthday, June 11, (and National Get Outdoors Day) we will be exploring the sheltered Nehalem Bay by canoe.
