26-year low on Texas’ Coastal Bend

temp_Rockport_JulianneGCraneYes, most of the country is much colder than here in Rockport-Fulton on the Coastal Bend of Texas.

However, the 24-degree reading this morning is far from typical for this part of the Lone Star State this time of year. Sitting just 26 miles northeast of Corpus Christi one expects slightly warmer weather.

In fact, the last time it was this cold was in 1985 when the temperature dipped to 22. According to one forecast, there is even a ‘chance of snow’ here on Friday.

I wonder if that will postpone the outdoor Belt Sander Races this Saturday down at the Legends Saloon (Formerly “Pickled Pelican”), 3720 N Hwy 35, Fulton, Tex. ?
