Recently we bicycled from Goose Island (Texas) State Park with fellow Lance camper owners Susan and Chuck Arbuckle of Champaign, IL (More about them in an upcoming post.)
Because we will be leaving the Coastal Bend of Texas soon, we wanted to have one last visit with, and say so long to, the Whooping Crane family roosting near the state park.
They put on quite a show with this year’s chick capturing, and attempting to eat, a snake that had the misfortune of wandering into their territory. The Cranes are putting on weight in anticipation of their long flight home in early spring.
