RVers spend holidays at Goose Island State Park in Rockport, Texas

During the holiday season, Janet and Stan Harper of Floresville, Tex., (about 25 miles south of San Antonio) can frequently be found on the coastal bend of Texas at Goose Island State Park in Rockport.

The Harpers, who own Cruises Creating Memories travel company, go to Goose Island as often as they can. “We try to work the trip around a holiday so we can take advantage of the extra days off from work,” said Janet Harper.

They choose Goose Island “because of the beautiful landscape and peacefulness. We love the trees and nature that surrounds the campsites,” said Harper.

The Harpers’ recreation vehicle is their creative pop-up-cargo trailer conversion.
“Our old Coleman pop-up tent camper was getting so tattered it needed replacement,” said Harper. “We also had a cargo trailer we weren’t using and thought it would more economical to combine them than to purchase a new travel trailer.”

“Now with our ‘Cabin on Wheels’ set up the way we want it,” said Harper, “it is a snap to get her ready for a weekend or week over the holidays.”
