Contemplating stopping over night near Mount Shasta in northern California. This 14,162-foot (4,317 m) volcano dominates the awe inspiring views for miles along Interstate 5.

The prominent landmark sits “along the historic Siskiyou Trail — the track of an ancient trade and travel route of Native American footpaths between California’s Central Valley and the Pacific Northwest,” according to the Mt. Shasta Chamber of Commerce.

As for places to stay, check out the Campgrounds and RV parks.

  • Mount Shasta is a dominating feature at many of our RV Parks along the I-5 corridor. Close to the Mountain, with beautiful views you’ll also find the Friendly RV Park off the south Weed I-5 Interchange. The folks at Friendly live up to their name – they know the area and are a great resource for places to visit. In McCloud you’ll find the beautiful McCloud Dance Country RV Park. To get to McCloud, take Hwy 89 east for about 12 miles. The town is delightful and views of Mount Shasta stunning.
