Talk about an RV Short Stop that is easy to find and offers what traveling RVers need: Clean restrooms, covered outdoor tables for a picnic, and an expansive grassy area to exercise your dog–all this, plus the added bonus of an accessible trail for a little exercise before getting back in the RV and heading down the road.
It is Hell’s Half Acre Lava Field rest area on I-15 at mile post 101, about halfway between Idaho Falls and Pocatello.
The adjacent walking trail into ancient lava formations is complete with places to sit and information signs about the site’s history, vegetation and resident wildlife.
