Camper van rentals alternative to larger RVs

Eve Mitchell writes on Inside Bay Area.com about the pros and cons of renting camper vans instead of larger recreation vehicles.

Camper vans can indeed be an alternative to recreational vehicles, said Alice Zyetz, who writes for RVLifestyleExperts.com.

“The van would be a good alternative if you want to travel on the cheap or it’s just two people,” said Zyetz.

Chuck Woodbury, editor of RVTravel.com, isn’t that impressed by the idea of renting a van to go camping.

“That would be a step up from a tent. You are off the ground and inside and have a little more control. They don’t have holding tanks,” he said. “I imagine for a family it would not work too well. Maybe a couple with small children. I would think the mobile home experience would be much better suited to a family.”

Two companies renting out camper vans are Lost Campers in San Francisco and California Campers.
