Sunday brunch at casino, view Parker Dam

Extended-time RVers Dave and Maisie Beattie of British Columbia invited us to Sunday brunch at the BlueWater Resort and Casino in Parker, Ariz., about 11 miles south of Buckskin Mountain State Park.

The Beatties have been spending part of their winter in the US southwest for several years. They particularly enjoy the desert climate around Parker.

After brunch the Beatties drove about 15 miles north on California SR 62 to Parker Dam, a “concrete arch-gravity dam” that crosses the Colorado River.

“It is 320 feet (98 m) high, 235 feet (72 m) of which are below the riverbed, making it the deepest dam in the world. The dam’s primary functions are to act as a reservoir, and to generate hydroelectric power. The reservoir behind the dam is called Lake Havasu,” according to Wikipedia.com.
