The past two Thanksgiving holidays for Clinton and Ann Robinson (right) of Grand Ridge Fla., have been week-long campouts with extended family and friends at the U. S. Corps of Engineers’ Eastbank Campground on Lake Seminole in Georgia on the border with Florida.
It all started in the summer of 2010 when the Robinsons met Airstream owners Charlie and Patty Betts of Tallahassee, Fla., (below) while camping at Lake Seminole.
“We quickly became friends and began meeting at the lake to camp and be together,” said Ann Robinson. Soon, the friends decided to meet the week before Thanksgiving. “During the week family members come in and begin getting ready for Thanksgiving dinner.”
The Robinson’s site and their 2004 Montana 36-foot fifth wheel trailer turn into “a place of family joy,” kids biking, playing games, meeting old friends and making new ones.
It was during Thanksgiving week in 2010 when Jimmy and I discovered this great COE campground, along with the Robinsons and Bettses. Within just moments of maneuvering our truck and camper into a site, Clinton Robinson walked over and introduced himself. We were quickly folded into their extended family. It was a wonderful Thanksgiving week.
“We have made a lot of special memories at Lake Seminole and plan to continue making more in the years to come,” said Ann Robinson.
