This is the 10th installment of Kevin and Janie Justis‘ ‘Summer of 2017’s Grand RVing Tour of Canada’s Maritime Provinces.’
This post finds Kevin and Janie Justis of Rio Rico, Ariz., with truck troubles and only a few days left in Newfoundland.
“It has been a great experience being in Newfoundland,” writes Kevin, “but is ending on an off note. After our last transit day we were stocking up on groceries when our truck’s check engine light came lit up. There was a Ford dealership within a couple of blocks so I immediately drove there. Their service department was taking appointments for September but they said they would try to get it checked out. After a ride back to the campground we settled in to wait and worry.
“The next day we got the bad news. One turbo would need to be replaced and the other would need fixing. The one that needed to be replaced was worked on in Montana. Preliminary cost estimate for work was ‘significant.’ The good news is that they can have it done (we hope) before our scheduled ferry departure. They were also able to come up with a loaner car. Our Ford truck is four years old with about 90,000 miles. Needless to say, we are not happy. Maybe time to go back to Toyota.
“Janie put it in proper perspective when she compared this to a good friend dealing with a type of stage IV cancer. Our truck problems are small stuff, in the category of ‘it is always something.’
