This is at least the fourth time we’ve stopped at the Mountain Valley RV Park in Tehachapi, Calif. It sits off CA Hwy 58 at about 4200-feet and is perfect for an overnight stop on the edge of the Mojave Desert.
This privately-owned facility is on the same property as a small glider airport. What we experienced this time, as opposed to our former stays, is the opportunity to watch a series of glider launches and landings. So peaceful and quiet (see photo above).
In late 2016, for less than $26 (SKP 15% discount) one gets electricity and water (dump site on property). Plus a laundry and fantastic shower facilities … lots and lots of hot water. There is a small cafe at the airport open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. with a limited menu for breakfast and lunch.
