Saturday, June 11, is “National Get Outdoors Day,” an annual event to encourage healthy, active outdoor fun for everyone.
One of the primary goals of the day is reaching first-time visitors to public lands and reconnecting our country’s youth to our amazing, great outdoors, according to organizers.
Federal agencies, nonprofit organizations and the recreation industry are teaming up to host the 9th annual National Get Outdoors Day (GO Day) to encourage healthy, active outdoor fun at sites across the nation.
“Each GO Day event will offer a mix of information centers and ‘active fun’ areas – places where guests, and especially kids, can use a fishing pole, go geocaching, help pitch a tent and more” … including “introductions to mountain biking and fly-fishing, hikes with rangers to see wildlife, kayaking and rafting and much more.”
Here is a list of all National Get Outdoors Day locations. Find one near you or just get outside to your favorite campground.
All you RVers who are great photographers … don’t pass up the chance to enter the Get Outdoors Photo Contest for a chance to win an “America the Beautiful” Pass.
“Take a picture of yourself, your family or your friends having fun outdoors and submit it by June 23. Once all the photos are collected, they will become part of a much larger image representing GO Day that will be unveiled on Great Outdoors Month and National Get Outdoors Day on July 4th,” according to the GO website.
