There are dozens of hybrid-expandable trailer manufacturers. Most have Web sites and toll-free telephone numbers to order free brochures.

Here are a few places to begin your research:

Forest River Hybrid Travel Trailers: Forest River manufactures five hybrids including the Roo, r-pod, Shamrock, Surveyor and X-Lite. “The r-Pod (pictured at right) is the first of its kind to offer you affordable luxury at the lowest tow weight in it’s class. The r•pod is a perfect example of “form follows function,” with its unique shape and construction,” according to Forest River literature.

KZ Recreational Vehicles: “Founded in 1972 in Middlebury, Ind., by Daryl Zook on the principles of quality, fairness, courtesy and integrity. Today, the company manufactures a full line of towable RVs in Shipshewana, Ind., and is still focused on those same principles. Jayco Feather Ultra Lites: “With eight expandable floorplans and nine travel trailer layouts, Jay Feather Ultra Lite (pictured at left) gives you 17 family-friendly designs to choose from. From hardwall slideouts to expandable sleeping, from full-featured bathrooms to private bedrooms, Jay Feather is ideal for families who want the ease of a smaller trailer but the amenities of a larger one,” according to Jayco material.
