National Pet Week coming up

Share

RVers love animals. A vast majority travel with their beloved pet companions.

Each year National Pet Week (May 3-9, 2009) promotes responsible pet ownership and celebrates the human-animal bond.

This year’s theme is “Pets–The Spice of Life” and is organized by the Auxiliary to the American Veterinary Medical Association

Danielle Cyr of Lincoln, Mont., won the $300 grand prize in the writing contest. Her essay, submitted as a fifth-grader:

“Pets are the spice of life because they help you when your life is horrid. They cheer you up if your day is going wrong. They are always happy unless they are hurt. One of my pets is named Sage. She is my mom’s dog, but we kind of share her. She is a red heeler puppy. When she is calm, I like to rub her belly. If she gets too hyper, we have to go outside. She is red like paprika! She runs around like she just ate pepper. Sage is so cute as sausage is spicy. She is the spice of my life!”
