Camping, fishing, biking at Lake Seminole where Georgia, Florida and Alabama meet

Share

After eight weeks and more than 5,000 miles of almost continuous RV travel, punctuated with short visits with family and friends, we were ready to drop anchor for a few days and rest a little during Thanksgiving week.

We have a beautiful campsite on the water at the US Army Corps of Engineers Eastbank Campground on Lake Seminole where the Chattahoochee and Flint rivers merge to form the Apalachicola River at the Florida-Georgia border.

“The lake consist of 37,000-acres and extends into Georgia. Alligators as well as Alligator snapping turtles are commonly seen around the lake. Fishing is a popular activity at the park since Lake Seminole is well-known for its yields. Largemouth and smallmouth bass, catfish, bluegill, speckled perch, and bream are some of the fish that might be landed by anglers. A Florida fresh water fishing license is required for persons 16 years of age or older.”  ($47/year for out-of-state resident)

Eastbank Campground, located near the Jim Woodruff Dam, has 65 campsites, including 63 sites with water and electric hookups (50 amp) at $20/night ($10 for Golden Age pass holders); Sites 64-65, $12 per night and are tent only.  Camping reservations can be made by calling 1-877.444-6777.

On the Florida side of Lake Seminole is the Three Rivers State Recreation Area, where camping is permitted in the Lakeside Campground.
