Alaska: Ultimate RV Road Trip, part 3 — The Milepost, bible of North Country travel

+Milepost2015RVer Karen Franklund, a retired accountant from Yakima, Wash., says: “Have plenty of time and don’t be in a rush. Frequently we traveled less than 200 miles a day.”

To begin planning your ultimate RV road trip, says Franklund, “you absolutely must have The Milepost.”

Updated annually since 1949, this “bible of North Country Travel” comes out each March and features nearly 800 pages of mile-by-mile logs of attractions, activities and services along 88 different highways and roads in Alaska, Yukon and other parts of Western Canada.

Jaimie Bruzenak of Retire to an RV recommends that the person not driving should read The Milepost out loud. “It is very informative and you find out interesting things about what you are seeing” and what is around the next bend in the road.
