Free entry to all National Parks – Sept. 27, Nov. 11

Just because the kids are back in school, doesn’t mean you can’t visit your closest national public treasure, including the awesome North Cascades National Park.

Tucked into the Northwest corner of the lower USA, this magnificent park is one of the least visited, but certainly one of the most breathtakingly beautiful.

While you may want to wait until next summer for your backcountry camping trip to the North Cascades,  there are almost 400 national parks you can visit on two remaining free days in 2014 on the National Park Service‘s calendar. NPS will waive admission fees for all of its national parks on  National Public Lands Day (Sept. 27), and the weekend of Veterans Day (Nov. 11).

“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.” — John Muir
