We were looking for a special way to celebrate the Holidays. We asked our Escapee friends, Ann and Hank David  if we could join them at Oregon’s Tugman State Park where they are campground hosting during December.

They let us know that there were plenty of available sites. We headed over to the Coast for a couple of days of seasonal celebration, delicious holiday cooking and friendship with good people.

In spite of the park’s close proximity to Oregon’s Highway 101, Tugman State Park is “relatively unknown,” according to Oregon’s State Parks.

It sits near the Oregon Coast on Eel Lake close to the community of Lakeside and is conveniently located for RVers wishing to explore the Oregon Coast between Reedsport and Coos Bay.

It is said that “waters of Eel Lake are outstanding for fishing, swimming, canoeing, sailing and boating.” A trail around the south end of the lake allows hikers to get away from the developed area of the park and explore the lake’s many inlets.  We hope to catch a glimpse of osprey, crane, eagle and other forest creatures as we walk through pine, spruce, cedar, fir and alder forest.
