Heading south along America’s east coast, we stopped to see longtime friends Linda Boone and Tony Davila in Milford, Delaware.
I’ve known Linda for more than 20 years. We met in Portland, Ore., through a mutual friend, Molly Hoover (now of Spokane, Wash.) when we were members of the National Speakers Association.
Among other accomplishments, Linda went on to become the national president of the American Legion Auxiliary and executive director of the National Coalition of Homeless Veterans in Washington, D.C.
It was while she was working for NCHV in D.C. that she met her future husband, Tony Davila, director of the Delaware Commission of Veterans Affairs. Not only does Tony know a great deal about veterans affairs, he is also a gourmet chef. He and Jimmy (who also loves to cook) had endless conversations on their favorite dishes.
In between delicious meals, Linda acted as tour guide, driving us around the capital of Dover and beach cities of Rohoboth and Lewes.
