People travel from around the world to drive Idaho’s unbelievably breathtaking Hwy 12 between Kooskia and Lolo Pass along the Lochsa River.

Lucky for RVers there are dozens of free areas to pull off the road and dry camp.
We stopped at Wilderness Gateway Campground in the Clearwater National Forest about halfway to the summit. The campground book I was referencing stated there would be electricity until the end of October. Wrong. We got there the day after it closed for the season. Budget issues and no camp host. We paid $7 for the America the Beautiful senior 50-percent rate.
