Lake Metigoshe State Park, North Dakota

We covered miles and miles of relatively flat land in North Dakota and spotted resting migrating swans on the numerous roadside lakes along the two-lane ND 5.

In the Turtle Mountains’ (yes there is even rumored to be a ski resort up these ways), we were delighted to find Lake Metigoshe State Park about 14 miles northeast of Bottineau, ND, within a stone’s throw the U.S./Canadian border.

Entrance fee—$7/day per vehicle; dry camping—$17/night.
