RVer Madden skipping Bucs-Seahawks game

Don’t look for John Madden in the NBC’s announcers booth during the Bucs-Seahawks game Sunday night (10/19).

Madden, who has long refused to fly to games, has decided not to make the cross-country trip to Tampa Bay in his custom motorhome.

“I still enjoy the travel, but you’d like to be home once in a while. I’ve got five grandchildren. It’s a quality of life issue,” said Madden in a Washington Post interview.

The decision breaks a streak of 476 weeks where Madden had called a game, going back to 1980 when he started with CBS, according to an item posted by Justin Terranova on the NYP TV Sports Blog. Check out more by clicking on:  “Madden skipping game” Read the latest update by clicking here.
