According to an item from Goshen News McClatchy-Tribune Information Services, “Two concept Class A motor homes at the RV industry’s show (in Lexington, KY) have shown that hybrid power systems can be adapted to luxury homes on wheels. The question that remains is: Are consumers interested in paying more for the technology to improve their vehicle’s gas mileage?”

“Both Fleetwood Enterprises and Winnebago Industries are displaying 36-foot motor homes built on the Freightliner ecoFRED chassis. That chassis includes a front-mounted diesel engine coupled to an electric motor/generator that is tied to lithium-ion batteries.” …

Paul Eskritt, president of Fleetwood’s RV Group, told his dealers at a luncheon on Tuesday that advancing toward more eco-friendly product lines is essential.”

“RVs of the future must incorporate advance technology to remain relevant in a vibrant and changing world,” Eskritt said. “So, I am going to make this a priority.”

  • I think a Hybrid Motohome would be a great idea. They have tons of run for batteries and they already have a built in generator to charge the batteries. Come on you guys lets make a real nice one and I’ll be the first one to buy it.
