Bypassed Benson SKP park, deadhead into Deming, NM’s Dream Catcher RV Park

SKPDeming_julianneGcraneWith a strong tail wind yesterday, we decided to barrel on down I-10 to the SKP Dream Catcher RV Park in Deming, NM. It was our longest travel day on this leg of the journey–330 miles.

This SKP (Escapee) RV Park is within earshot of I-10 and sandwiched between La Quinta and Holiday Inn motels. Maybe not very glamorous, but it is a perfect destination for folks like us who are trying to cover lots of territory and need a clean, safe and friendly place to pull off the road for a reasonable price. As Escapee members, it is costing us around $15 for full hookups. One can dry camp for $5. However, temperatures fell to the mid-30s last night, and the electric for heating was worth the difference.

While here, we tossed in a load of clothes ($1/wash, $1/dry) and took a long, hot shower (free). Staff was extremely friendly, complete with the Escapee hugs.

Today we are planning on covering about 300 miles, passing through El Paso and parking about seven miles south of I-10 at Balmorhea State Park on the edge of the Davis Mountains (elev. a little over 3,200′) in Texas.
