Another great sunset in the desert Southwest

Wow, every night in the desert Southwest there is another magnificent sunset. My photographs do not do them justice. This one was taken last night from our encampment in the Long Term Visitor Area on Bureau of Land Management property near the Imperial Dam on the California side.

+BLM_Imperial_Burros_JulianneGCraneWe arrived around 4 p.m. and found a location somewhere between Fishtale Flats and Snowbird Mesa … it really is a challenge to read the maps. In fact if it wasn’t for fulltimer Joyce Caudell of Portand, Ore., giving us a number of pointers, we would have had a devil of a time even finding the place based on signage alone.

However, that said, there are thousands of people here with rigs of all kinds. As with other public lands in this region, protected wild burros seem to thrive.
