Green RVing with small, retro MPG travel trailer, plus amazing awning-screened room

Thom and Sharon Seargeant fell in love with their nifty 2011 19-foot MPG 181 travel trailer manufactured by Heartland.

“It’s big enough for the two of us and one grandchild,” laughed Thom from his lawn chair at Garner State Park.

Heartland states that the MPG micro-light travel trailer’s dry weight is 2,988 pounds and “can be towed by many of today’s popular crossover vehicles and smaller SUVs.” The Seargeants drive a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder.

To help expand the interior space, the trailer features a kitchen-area slide out. However, what almost doubles the living space is a domed awning-screened room that the Seargeants purchased as an option (suggested retail is around $1,000).

Garner State Park is one of the Seargeants favorite camping destinations because it is only about two hours from their home in San Antonio.  However, as with just about every other place in Texas during the summer, there are lots of flying insects, so their screened room will also come in handy when the bugs come out.
