Spending a couple of days in Central Oregon

Share

Traveling through Central Oregon is always a relaxing pleasure during the spring when the daytime temperatures fluctuate between the mid-60s and 70s. Perfect for hiking.

On this trip I am visiting with friends just a few miles outside the town of Redmond, about 30-minutes from Bend (where I frequently walk along the Deschutes River that runs through the downtown or enjoy a cold pint at one of the many local microbreweries).

Just one of the nearby popular summer camping, hiking and canoeing area is Sparks Lake, about 25 miles west of Bend via the Cascade Lakes Highway and Forest Road 400, is a few miles past the Mt. Bachelor Ski Area. An added attraction is of Sparks Lake (at an elevation of 5,450 feet) is that it is open only to fly-fishing.
