“America’s Best Idea” … keeps getting better with *free entrance days for the upcoming 3-day Presidents Day Weekend.
During 2014 there are five more opportunities to visit for free more than 2,000 National Parks, national forests, national wildlife refuges, and other federal lands. By providing free admission, all Americans can visit and enjoy these extraordinary treasures that belong to all of us.
America’s public lands offer every American a place to get outdoors, learn about our nation’s history and culture, and “restore our spirits.”
The remaining entrance fee-free dates in 2014 are:
- February 15-17
Presidents Day Weekend
- April 19-20
opening weekend of National Park Week
- August 25
National Park Service Birthday
- September 27
National Public Lands Day - November 11
Veterans Day

Canyonlands National Park is an interesting choice … it’s not one of the most visited of the national parks, but certainly has breath-taking landscapes. We stayed at the Squaw Flat Campground this past summer.
