It is not a surprise that 85 percent of Americans are planning a getaway this summer, or that 90 percent of us will be traveling by car or recreation vehicle.

But, where to go?  With busy schedules and limited vacation time, some of us can use a little help in deciding exactly where to point our RV for the very best fun, scenic and economic escape.

One place to start your research is with the recent report — 2015’s Best & Worst States for Summer Road Trips — put out by the personal finance website WalletHub.

“Using 20 key metrics, WalletHub compared the 50 U.S. states to identify the ones that offer frugally minded road travelers the most fun for the least cost,” says Diana Popa, communications manager of WalletHub. “Our data set ranges from average gas prices to the quality of roads to the number of attractions.”
