GPS is set for Joshua Tree National Park; visit with longtime friend Rachel Scott

God willing and the Santa Ana Winds don’t rise, our next official stop is Joshua Tree National Park, in the southern California high desert north of Palm Springs.

We are following in the tire tracks of our RV friends Thom and Dar Hoch who traveled along this road in mid-November. Like the Hochs, we also plan to dry-camped at the primitive Black Rock Campground just inside the northwest corner of the park.

The next couple days explore the national park and drive into Desert Hot Springs to visit longtime (we’re talking 35 years) friend, Rachel Scott.

The last time we caught up with Rachel was October 2010 in Pottsville, Pa. The time before that was November 2009 when our paths crossed in Albuquerque, NM. One of the great benefits of RVing is the ability to vary one’s itinerary and visit family and friends spread across the great American landscape.

While in Desert Hot Springs, we also plan, what else, to soak in several hot springs.
