Fulton Mansion for RV snowbirds, family outings

Share

FultonMansion-JimmySmith_JulianneGCraneThe last time we were ‘Winter Texans’ on the Gulf Coast, the Fulton Mansion was under extensive preservation work due to “serious long-term foundation and structural issues, basement water infiltration, deterioration of original wood windows, and major roof leaks.” The nearly three-year long project lasted between January 2013 and October 2015, according to a museum official.

It was built between 1874 and 1877 for George Ware Fulton (1810-1893) and his wife, Harriet Smith Fulton (1823-1910) who were married in 1840.

Start with the visitors center where there is an exhibit with background information on the Fulton family. Allow about an hour for the self-guided tour.
