Waiting out a severe weather alert on I-15

Share

It has been a challenging start to our trying to get out of cold Spokane … because I wanted to visit Zion National Park on our way to the Southwest for the winter … we have been moving with a freakish early winter storm rumbling through Nevada and Utah.

Tonight we are staying at the Fillmore KOA in Fillmore, Utah. We’re snug and warm here with full hookups, hot showers and a laundry. How much I missed the simple comforts.

There is a “Winter Weather Advisory for Southwest Utah” in effect until 11 p.m. this evening.

The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, UT says:

“TOTAL ACCUMULATION OF 1 TO 4 INCHES IS EXPECTED THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON… WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS EXPECTED ALONG THE I-15 CORRIDOR BETWEEN FILLMORE AND CEDAR CITY.

SNOW AND STRONG WINDS WILL CONTINUE TO CREATE HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS ALONG AREA ROADS THROUGH THIS EVENING AS SNOW CONTINUES TO SPREAD INTO THE AREA. THIS SNOW IS EXPECTED TO TAPER OFF LATE THIS EVENING.

ADDITIONALLY… NORTH WINDS MAY GUST UP TO 50 MPH… CAUSING AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW.” —
