Being members of the Escapee (SKP) RV Club and being that we were traveling along I-40 in Tennessee … it was a given that we would head for the Raccoon Valley RV Park a few miles north of Knoxville.
The park is only seven-minutes from the Museum of Appalachia. Also nearby are the great Smoky Mountains National Park, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.
There are no reservations and while the park is busy, there were about a dozen open sites. All together there are 68 sites, most pull-thrus with 50 amp service. We had a back-in site along the edge of the park for RVs wanting only 30 amp service. Golden-leaved maple trees greeted us out our backdoor.
The park hosts a social hour most days at 4 p.m. in the Club House. There is also a laundry room, bathhouse with showers and restroom facilities, walking trails, WiFi, dog park and swimming pool (during warmer months).
