There is still more than a month before school bells ring.  And, according to AAA, 53 percent of all the families vacationing plan to take summer road trips, many in their recreation vehicle.

To find the best road-trip destinations, WalletHub.com compared the 50 states across three key dimensions: 1) Costs, 2) Safety and 3) Activities, according to Adam McCann, Financial Writer.

To help with our planning, WalletHub.com chose “33 key metrics to find the most fun, scenic and wallet-friendly road-trip destinations.” The data ranges from the number of attractions, to road conditions, to costs.

They compared things like ‘Average Gas Prices,’ ‘Price of Camping,’ ‘Quality of Roads,’ ‘Fairs and Festivals per Capita over Summer Time,’ ‘Access to Scenic Byways,’ and ‘Idealness of Summer Weather.’

While there is not one perfect summer road trip, there are many great opportunities scattered across the United States. To read Wallet Hub’s complete findings, click here.
