Dan Piller, business writer for the Des Moines (Iowa) Register, reported that Winnebago Industries Inc. told its workers last Friday that almost all production lines will be shut down this week, “as recreational vehicle sales suffer from rising fuel prices and tightening credit markets.”
Winnebago spokeswoman Sheila Davis said she didn’t know how many of the company’s 2,800 workers would be affected, but almost all of the production lines in its Forest City, Charles City and Hampton factories are not be running this week “because of sluggish sales.”
