Taking a couple of days to drive south from Savannah to visit a longtime friend, author Tilly Grey, in Florida. She lives in The Villages, which advertises itself as “Florida’s Friendliest Hometown.”
I haven’t been to every town in Florida, but I can vouch for The Villages as a friendly place. The last time I was here it was over a St. Patrick’s weekend and the entire town was partying. There were at least five bands in the downtown square. Everyone was dancing or at least swinging to the beat. What a hoot.
RV campgrounds along the route seem to be a little over half-full.
