Inaugural good for D.C. area RV parks

Leonard Sparks of the Capital News Service writes in Hometown Annapolis about how Barack Obama’s Inauguration is bringing prosperity to area RV parks.

In a normal January, says a campground owner Mike Gurevich, 10 recreational vehicles at most would be parked at the Cherry Hill Park campground in College Park, Maryland. As of this past weekend, 280 of his 300 sites are reserved at $55 a day.

One of the RVers interviewed for the article, Ronald Sorenson of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., rented a 30-foot motor coach and spent $17,000 to decorate the RV (with the owner’s permission). He drove for three days is parked at Cherry Hill Park.
