Caught up with RVer Malia Lane; brunch at Chuy’s – a Tex-Mex Austin tradition

MaliaLane_PecanGrove_0803_JulianneGCraneHappy to say, I was able to connect for a brunch with fulltime RVer and writer Malia Lane at her home base at the Pecan Grove RV Park in Austin.

Malia says Pecan Grove’s convenient near-downtown location on Barton Springs Road is “the best bet for exploring the music venues on 6th Street or when other special events are in town; also for exploring the state capitol, beautiful Zilker Park, and my favorite restaurant (Chuy’s) is within walking distance.”

Speaking of Chuy’s, Malia and I walked a long city block for a Sunday Brunch — and the place, as usual, was packed. (Especially after ‘the game of the season’ last night when UT beat Texas Tech 34-24. Go Longhorns.)

The Austin Chronicle writes about Chuy’s: “With hubcaps, colored lights, and a velvet Elvis, this is Austin-style Tex-Mex at its tacky, funky best. Almost always busy.”
