Camping along the Snake River at Idaho Power’s popular Hells Canyon campgrounds

Idaho Power Company  maintains eleven overnight camping facilities: at the Hells Canyon and CJ Strike Areas; and  Lower Salmon Falls, Swan Falls and Twin Falls Parks.

The popular Woodhead Park, in the Hells Canyon Area, is located on 65 acres on the Idaho side of Brownlee Reservoir. Woodhead has 118 RV sites, electricity, showers, water, picnic tables, fire rings, and an RV dump station. There are 15 walk-in tent sites with water, fire rings and picnic tables. There is a four-lane boat ramp, docks, and access to reservoir at low water.

According to the Idaho Power’s Web’s recreation pages most campground sites can be Reserved Online.  A few sites are open on a first-come, first-serve basis. There is 14-day stay limit. For information on park availability call 541-785-7209. (There are additional fees for making reservations.)

The Woodhead campground’s Summer Rates (April – October) are: RVs $16; Tent spaces: $10. Overflow at all parks is $6 for both RVs and tents.

Tent campers occupying a designated RV space will be charged the normal $16 nightly fee for an RV space. A maximum number of three tents may be set up in an RV space at one time, if there is enough room.

Winter Rates (November – March): All parks: RVs $8; Tent spaces: $5. Overflow at all parks is $3 for both RVs and tents.
