Folding the tent, loading the RV and readying to leave the Coastal Bend, heading north

JimmySmith_tent_JulianneGCraneAfter two wonderful months on the Gulf Coast of Texas, these snowbirds are folding our tent, slipping the Lance camper back onto the truck and saying our goodbyes to our new friends at the Sandollar RV Park in Rockport.

Today we are starting the final leg of our six-month journey circumnavigating the United States.

We plan on taking at least three weeks to cover the 2,500-mile (or so) route northwest to Spokane, Wash. Between here and there will be stops at state and national parks, and occasional boondocking stays on public lands.

Once on the Colorado River near Parker, Ariz., we’ll take a look at the weather before deciding on our best route north. There’s still lots of snow on the ground in those mountains.
