Gilbert Ray Campground continues as a popular (no reservations) county destination with snowbirds.

RV friends Marc and Joyce Stalnaker recently visited the Gilbert Ray Campground, a county facility near Tucson, and wrote in to let us know it is still a pretty good place to put down stakes for a few nights.

“I like this campground because the sites are carefully placed in native, undisturbed desert vegetation, ” writes Marc. “Very pretty with views of the mountains. Most sites have 30amp power. AT&T cell works well, and Tucson is only about 10 miles away, over a very winding and hilly road (not suitable for large RV’s).”

BTW, the campground is accessible via a less windy route with an approach from the south.

The Stalnakers travel in their 2000 Ford F-350 DRW with a 2015 Lance 850 Camper. They tow a Honda CRV.
