While bicycling near Aransas Bay in Rockport, Texas, we spotted a beautiful great white egret with its fresh catch. (Click on photos to enlarge)
This great white egret, standing at least 3-feet, is distinguished from other white egrets by its yellow bill and black legs and feet
Taking a pause … the mullet is still wiggling some in the grass.
But, not for long. Now it’s in the right position …
One or two more gulps …. this egret appears to be in breeding plumage, because of the delicate ornamental feathers on its back.
Only tail remains outside bill … head of fish is evident on left of throat …
Outline of fish can be seen as it slips down the great white egret’s throat.
Amazing.
