Tribute: Remembering a gentle being, my sister Nancy Jean Grandin Butler

Share

My sister, Josam Grandin Bullock of Austin, TX, and I met in Laguna Beach for a couple of days to remember and celebrate our middle sister Nancy Jean Grandin Butler who made her transition from this world on April 12, 2008.

We selected this past week because Sept. 18 was Nancy’s birth date; and we returned to Laguna Beach because for many years all three Grandin sisters would gather there for a ‘Girls Sleepover.’

No matter how old we became in chronological years, we always felt like teenagers in Laguna because, being Southern California girls, we first started cruising to Laguna back in the day when the Beach Boys were truly boys.

Our final Girls Sleepover for the three of us was in January 2008. The above picture is of “The Grandin Girls” (Nancy in front, Josam in middle, then “little” sister, Julianne, in back).  Only three months later, Nancy died from complications related to lung cancer.
