Brazos Bend State Park is an outstanding family ‘destination’ park within easy reach of downtown Houston, Texas. We stayed here for 12 days recently and commuted (about an hour) into the city to visit relatives.

Selected as one of America’s top state parks, by National Geographic Traveler magazine, this public park sits at an ecological crossroads. “Watch the many kinds of birds (more than 300 species) that feed in the park’s lush wetlands. Observe the interrelations of nature and listen to sounds of the marsh, prairie and woodlands as they reveal many species of wildlife.” – Brazos Bend Trails Map
