Historic Fulton Mansion, the imposing Victorian mansion in Rockport, Texas, is open during Hurricane Harvey recovery.

The mansion has survived eight hurricanes–the most recent being Harvey in August 2017.

The community of Rockport-Fulton, a longtime popular RV Snowbird destination (we’ve spent four winters there) was severely damaged by the catastrophic 2017 storm. The mansion’s flat metal roof and chimneys were completely destroyed, leaving “major water damage to interior collections, carpets, and plaster walls.”

Thanks to donations and volunteer restoration efforts, this state historic site re-opened for self-guided “hard hat tours” in March 2018.

This bayside mansion is one of the region’s top visitors’ attractions and a source of local pride. As ‘Winter Texans’ in Rockport, we frequently bicycled by Fulton Mansion, often stopping to appreciate the view of Aransas Bay.

Tourists start with the visitors center where there is an interactive exhibit with background information on the Fulton family. Allow about an hour for the self-guided tour.
