Everyone can get in free on Monday, Jan. 19, 2015,  in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. * Free admission does not include camping fees.

One extremely popular park in southern California with hikers and climbers is Joshua Tree National Park, in the high desert north of Palm Springs.

Other National Park Service’s Fee Free days in 2015 included: Feb. 14-16 (Presidents’ Day weekend), April 18-19 (opening weekend of National Park Week), Aug. 25 (the National Park Service’s 99th birthday), Sept. 26 (National Public Lands Day), and Nov. 11 (Veterans Day).

*Fee waiver includes: entrance fees, commercial tour fees, and transportation entrance fees. Other fees such as reservation, camping, tours, concession and fees collected by third parties are not included unless stated otherwise.
